Sleep Medicine at W8MD
Evaluation of snoring, witnessed breathing pauses, unrefreshing sleep and daytime sleepiness can identify problems that affect cardiovascular, metabolic and daytime health.

Reasons to request an evaluation
- Loud habitual snoring or witnessed pauses in breathing
- Gasping, choking, morning headaches or dry mouth
- Unrefreshing sleep, fatigue or excessive daytime sleepiness
- Resistant hypertension, obesity or other sleep-apnea risk factors
- Difficulty tolerating current PAP treatment
Evaluation and testing
The clinician reviews symptoms, schedule, medications, medical history and safety issues such as drowsy driving. A home sleep apnea test may be appropriate for selected adults, while others need laboratory testing or evaluation for a different sleep disorder.
Treatment planning
PAP therapy
CPAP or bilevel treatment may be recommended, with attention to mask comfort and adherence barriers.
Weight management
Weight reduction may improve obstructive sleep apnea in some patients but does not automatically replace indicated therapy.
Other options
Positional measures, oral-appliance referral and specialist care may be considered according to anatomy and severity.
Safety: Do not drive when dangerously sleepy. Appointment and testing availability varies; W8MD does not guarantee same-week service.
