How it is used in weight management

Wegovy formulations are indicated for chronic weight management in eligible patients alongside reduced-calorie nutrition and physical activity. Treatment generally begins at a low dose and is adjusted according to the applicable label, tolerance and clinical judgment.

Wegovy injection and Wegovy tablets differ in administration. Ozempic and Rybelsus are semaglutide products associated with diabetes indications and should not be presented as identical weight-loss brands.

Safety and follow-up

Common problems include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal symptoms. Important warnings and precautions include thyroid C-cell tumor risk, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney injury related to dehydration, severe gastrointestinal reactions, diabetic retinopathy complications in some patients and hypoglycemia with certain diabetes drugs. Do not combine with another semaglutide-containing product or GLP-1 receptor agonist.

Follow-up evaluates response, tolerance, nutrition, hydration, bowel symptoms, blood pressure or laboratory information when relevant, activity, lean-mass goals and maintenance planning. Dose escalation is not automatic.
